IMO there shouldn't be a debate here. Duck hunter is there first and you would be flaring his birds. If you are close enough to have been "peppered" in the past you are fishing too close to duck hunters.

I would say 200 yards is the closest I would get.

On the flip side we have a saying at our place sometimes the diffrerecne between a limit and missing it is a couple fishermen running around moving birds.

I have situation where the duck hunter has a blind every year in front of a mouth to a creek I like to go up into and fish. Ive heard of them shooting at people before, but he has never shot at me. All it takes is some common sense and common courtesy. I always fish there in the afternoon and I always shutdown and make sure there are no ducks close before I get close. I then try to get on by as quick as I can with idle the only option there for stumps, and I dont stop and start fishing until Im a good ways past him. I duck hunt too, so I just treat the fella like I would want to be treated. He usually waves and ask if I had any luck.
