Running isn't bad for your joints if you do it correctly, not over do it and take care of yourself. Sitting around being inactive will cause worse joint pains in later life than running. I can go knock out 13-15 miles a weekend and feel fine.
And actually runners probably have the lowest douche quotient. IMO, there are two kinds of douche runners. The ones who are really really good and know it and act that way. Then there are the recreational people who want to post and talk about their 5K and their training plan and how they are going to carb load before the Race for the Cure and crap like that.
For the most part, most runners do their thing at their pace, cheer on other runners and then go drink beer and talk about a race and work and posters on message boards who call them douchnozzles.
ETA: It's actually when I can't run because of work or injuries or something is when I'm in a bad mood. Running helps balance me out.

i love to run. i don't feel the need to let people know how much i love to run or how much i run or where i run like those crazy people, however. no worse than the 'just got a good workout in :insertmirrorpic:' i guess we're all just different.

I'm a triathlete and know some runners, cyclists, and triathletes that are douchbags but not many. Most are willing to help anyone wanting to improve in the sport.
Dbags are in every sport. Heck, I knew more dbags when I played softball and flag football. Walk into any bar and I'm sure you could spot someone you think is a dbag.
What about the people walking around with Tapout shirts?

I got in under 22....my only goal for that race. 21:59 was the same as 20:50 to me.
A week after Ironman, I was unsure if I was even going to be able to rnu the whole thing pain free so when I hit the track with some time to spare, I was a happy dude.

I'll post/share some motivational pictures on FB, but alot of time it's at 5 am when I am on the can taking my pre ride or pre run cr@p and I am sharing some motivation.
I agree with South17's sentiments...yeah, there are DB's, but no more than any other recreational sport that some take more serious than others. There will always be posers, and those are usually the biggest DBs and would be DBs with or without running.
Remove them from running and give them a fishing boat and they'll be the guy who shows up and can't back his trailer down the launch nor rig his line. It isn't the sport, it's the people and when comparing sports, no way running has as many as bodybuilding. At least when runner quit running, they accept it is over and move on to other things when they get fat.
