Anyone have any suggestions of must-go-to local spots? I'm new to the area and wanting to try everything out.

There's an old general store that's converted to a restaurant, right there in the downtown square, that was good for what it was. Basically, just semi-refined country cooking.

pucketts?? its ok but nothing to get too excited about.
Mack and Kate's
that rathole mexican restaurant right past the square
papa boudreaux in the square is very pricey and you will be disappointed in how it compares to real south la food.
what about nashville or cool springs? there are more suggestions if you branch out from franklin

I think that's it. And, I agree. It's the only place I can recall that I ever ate at in Franklin, Tennessee, though.

We used to eat at the Bunganut Pig all the time, but it's been almost 10 years since I've been. The food isn't anything to write home about. More about the atmosphere. Not sure if it's still the same ol' place or if it's sold out like every other place in Franklin.

I ate at the Buganut Pig the other night. It was okay. Fun environment that I will probably do again.
I was going to try Puckett's last night but ended up going to Broadway Brewhouse in Cools Springs instead. Apparently, Puckett's has a cover charge on certain nights for the band. Not what I was wanting to get into last night.
I also hadn't heard of Mack and Kate's. Looks nice from the webpage. I might try them tonight.
I am actually closer to Cool Springs than I am to downtown, but most of the places here appear to be chains. I was wanting more of the local flavor instead.

my favorites are mas tacos in east nashville, calypso (i think there's one in cool springs), baja burrito (near 100 oaks mall) and gabbys burgers by sounds stadium. also the la hacienda on nolensville road is delicious.
kate (of mac & kates) is good people.
