What barrier exists to participating in the democratic process and voicing your support for different policies? If you can convince more people your ideas are better you can win the next election.

if this happens, there will be plenty of bloodshed. And if this happens I'm starting a militia and will be in the middle of no where civilized.

I'm not. I support gay marriage. I'm for ending the war on drugs, and the wars/occupations overseas. I consider myself a classic liberal/modern day libertarian.

i has disappoint. Actually, I think I'm sort of conservative fiscally and definitely liberal socially. I want a government big enough to protect it's citizens (militarily, economically, etc.) but small enough to allow LOTS of freedom. It's a delicate balance. In some areas, I think we need more government. In others, much less. In all, better government.

By "Ivory Tower" do you mean people with a knowledge of history beyond a fifth grade level?

For the record, I think this is a silly question because the answer for nearly every living human is "yes". Example: Is there any line your child can cross that would cause you to kill them? Of course. If they were threatening the life or lives of one of my other children. I mean, there's almost always some line at which someone would do something that they would usually never consider.

You could just move out of the country?
So could have Washington, Adams, Jefferson and all of the other founders of the United States. When did citizens of the United States lose the right to petition their government? I seem to recall that being included in the Bill of Rights. Maybe you might want to re-think your attitude regarding who is showing proper respect for our laws, and who is willing to trample the rights of others.

Jester. Dude. You do realize that the only way to make sure our babies aren't slaughtered in endless wars and green energy crusades is to secede, right?

A private citizen suggesting that someone move doesn't "trample" anyone's rights. He probably just thinks that a person advocating secession in this political climate is stupid. And he's right.
