New shocks on truck

I have a 2004 Ford F150 4x4 with 140,000 miles on it. I think it's safe to say that I need some new shocks. I'm sure the ride in my truck has slowly worsened over the past several years. Do I need to replace struts as well? Does anyone recommend a certain brand? Right now I am leaning towards the recommend OE replacement at the auto parts store.

Struts on a truck? Didn't know they had those. Surely wouldn't hurt to change em, but they might not be that dogged out.

I don't. I just recommend gas shocks. They seem to ride a little stiffer.

Try rockauto.com for pretty good prices

Cheap and decent.....Monroe. They dont last as long as high quality ones from my experiences with them.
On one of my trucks, I swapped from crappy pro comp $35/pair ones to Bilsteins and now, wouldn't ever put anything else on a vehicle. IIRC they are only like $100/pair.

My truck has been riding noticeably worse lately. It is an 08 GMC 2500 with 140,000 miles. She's probably about due for a new set.

Look at eshocks.com It is where I have gotten mine in the past. For 1/2 ton trucks, it looks like you could be setup with Bilsteins for ~$300

Get you some adjustable ones. And some air bags. Air bags are incredible.

I don't pull heavy shite any more. I couldn't justify airbags.

Get em anyway. I can make my truck look like a baja truck with em.
They seriously do help the ride even when you don't have a load on them. My truck rides better now than it ever did. Kinda aggravating to have to put air in them every 2 or 3 weeks but its cool to play with.
