The Acadia is a good choice for what you are describing.

2013 Buick Enclave. One of the best warranty's in the business. 5 year 100,000 on the engine and transmission and 4 year or 50,000 of bumper to bumper coverage. Buick's quiet tuning suspension is second to none as far as domestic. With Buick's intellilink technology and onstar features this SUV would be a home run with her. Good look in whatever you choose.

Solid choice as it has more room than the Murano. Also: Grandmother's love Buick. ;)

The Traverse and Acadia are nice in that class if you don't want the luxury brands. If she doesn't need the cargo space, go down a size to the Equinox. It's bigger than it used to be and perfect for someone who wants features, gas mileage, an SUV feel and doesn't need storage space. The Edge/Escape isn't bad either but is missing a little from the Chevy brands. The Highlander is a good one as well but I personally didn't like it as much.

Just to get you up to speed, the GTR is the 3rd fastest car MotorTrend has ever tested. 1. Bugatti Veyron 10.4 qtr at 124mph 2. Lamborghini Aventador 10.6 qtr at 133mph 3. Nissan GTR 10.8 qtr at 127mph LINK I believe the fastest BMW is the M6 Coupe, which runs the quarter at 12.2, there was a 2010 BMW M5 GTS that ran the quarter in 11.9, still not very close at all. You underestimate the power of the GTR, it is ridiculously fast and one of the fastest production cars period (0-60 of 2.7 seconds 0-100 of 6.7 secs) yet alone it's price point, and a V6. Nissan.
That's great and all but I don't think it's really relevant to a guy looking to buy his mom a mid sized SUV

The MDX are really nice. Acura also makes an RDX which is a little smaller but still a very nice car. My girlfriend got one fully loaded with GPS that was certified pre-owned with about 5,000 miles for 29K. I like driving it myself. I think you mom would like it.

Check out the Volvo XC-60. Not too big and sits higher than a car...

Nissan Murano - smaller than an SUV, but a great car

I'm a fan of the Murano. Got one for the ex not long after they came out, I thought they were a perfect mix of soccer mom, road tripping, and around town type of car. The new style has better sight lines, and is easier to see out the back window for safety and not backing into poles. You could always strike up a convo w/ your mom and gauge the ones she likes. Maybe just start talking about a friend getting an SUV, one that you're considering for your mom, and see where the convo goes or ask which SUV's she likes.

Walked away with this today and had my brother deliver it to my Mom. 2011 Honda CR-V 1. Navigation 2. Leather 3. Backup Camera 4. Miles: 3,600 (Yes, only 3,600 miles) 5. 6 disc CD changer 6. Bluetooth Phone support All for a grand total of $23,800 cash. She was very happy when my brother dropped it off. I wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions at this price point it was way to good to pass up.
