Sorry to hijack the thread but I think there are some woodies behind my in-laws house. How would I go about hunting these things?

I've never duck hunted and have no gear. There is a levee with some standing water inside of it. I've jumped some ducks while walking the levee and I believe they are woodies based on the sound they make, but I've never had a good look at them. This is a wooded area with a couple of fields and ponds nearby. I saw 4 or 5 ducks flying in that direction when I was driving down their road yesterday right at dark.

1. I've assumed they are wood ducks, is that what it sounds like based on the description/area?
2. Would I just get in close to the water before daylight and still hunt them?

Was suppost to hunt with jsmoke, but he got on a slow boat to China yesterday. Still made a hunt with my daughter and SIL at a WMA. I did let them do most of the shooting. Daughter baged 3 grays, SIL,2 grays and myself I did get 1 gray. Emailed a picture to jsmoke for my 1 gray.

MOT, better have a lic and duck stamps before shooting any duck. If you have them, look for a big Oak Tree next to the water and just sit next to it. The wood ducks will land right under it.

Oh, I used my son'e Browning Maxx yesterday. I rate it as a POS! Does not fit good and kicks just as bad as my 870 Wingmaster. WTF does people see in this POS?
