Did somebody say away goals aren't a tiebreaker?

By their calculations, a team that hosts the first leg and wins 1-0 has a 52 percent chance of advancing but only a 36 percent chance of advancing with a 3-2 win. Without the away-goals rule, any one-goal win at home in the first leg gives that team a 41 percent chance of advancing.

I've always wondered the stats on these situations. The away goal rule basically discourages home teams from attacking persistently in the first leg. Chelsea did it spectacularly during the Barcelona tie last year.

This ref is incredibly lenient, but also very consistent. Fair play to him.
