I was at the Game in January. That hurt much worse than this.

Last night, our team played beyond anyone's expectations. All of the people who predicted that LSU had no chance were feeling their sphincters tighten up as the 2nd half ran down because they saw their plans going down the drain.

Last year was supposed to be an average year -- we had a perfect record, beating Alabama on their home field and made it to the championship game....where we looked overmatched, incompetent, poorly led, and apathetic. I was there. It was horrible, frustrating, sad, and just all around one of the worst days in sports I've ever experienced.

This year, even with the roster being depleted by players leaving early for the draft, injuries, personal issues and getting kicked off the team, we have a pretty good season going. We've lost to a good Florida team...could we have beaten them? Possibly. But everything wasnt clicking that game.

Last night, those young men had a fire in them that we haven't seen consistently this year. The coaching staff had them fired up and believing in themselves and their teammates. The "new" offensive line has gotten better and better each week. The offense scored touchdowns on the best defense in the country in 6 categories. The defense forced numerous 3&outs on an offense that has put embarrassing numbers up against other teams. Alabama had only trailed for 15 SECONDS the entire season. There are a lot of positives to find in last night's game....the final score was not one of them.

Like you, I was shocked, hurt, angry, frustrated and wanted to smash things. But, rather than blame people, and hold on to my anger, I'm choosing to look at the positives and enjoy the rest of the season. The LSU football team has a great future. And after what I saw last night, I'd say we have a pretty damn good present also.
