Thanks. Hope to hear more reports from you guys. Nola,Cotton and Eades would be our starters? Correct?

Nola looked very strong giving up one run in 3 innings on a double to the wall by Sciambra. Eades pitched well. Lamarche struggled with poor control. Rhymes was 2-3. Ross continues to consistently throw guys out stealing. Sciambra made a great catch sliding over the mound in the right field bullpen. Freshmen outfielders looked good at the plate. Cotton closed game retiring 3 of 4. Pretty good showing for the Fall.

GOLD RECORDS 5-1 WIN OVER PURPLE IN GAME 1 OF INTRASQUAD WORLD SERIES
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Gold team broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the top of the sixth inning Tuesday en route to a 5-1 victory over the Purple in Game 1 of the LSU Baseball Purple-Gold World Series in Alex Box Stadium.
The intrasquad series, consisting of three six-inning games, continues with Game 2 at 4 p.m. Thursday, and it concludes with Game 3 at 5 p.m. Friday. The Purple-Gold World Series culminates LSU’s six-week fall practice period.
Freshman outfielder Mark Laird opened the Gold sixth with a single off of Purple reliever Will LaMarche, and he moved to third on junior infielder JaCoby Jones’ double to right-center field.
Freshman shortstop Alex Bregman drove home the go-ahead run with a single and sophomore catcher/infielder Evan Powell delivered a sacrifice fly to highlight the rally.
“It was a good, competitive ball game until it kind of slipped away from the Purple in the sixth inning,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “We saw some outstanding pitching and some clutch at-bats that produced runs.”
Junior right-hander Ryan Eades pitched the first three innings for the Gold, allowing no runs on one hit with three strikeouts. Sophomore right-hander Aaron Nola started on the mound for the Purple and surrendered just one run on one hit in three innings with two strikeouts.
The Gold opened the scoring in the top of the second when Nola hit senior infielder Casey Yocom with a pitch and sophomore outfielder Chris Sciambra produced an RBI double.
The Purple tied the game in the bottom of the fifth as senior outfielder Alex Edward walked, moved to second on freshman catcher Chris Chinea’s single, advanced to third on freshman infielder Geonte’ Jackson’s sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman outfielder Andrew Stevenson.
“Sciambra’s double was a very nice piece of hitting,” Mainieri said, “and Laird did what he’s done all fall in starting that rally in the sixth. Alex Bregman has had a tremendous fall, and he demonstrated again today that he’s ready to make the transition into big-time college baseball.”
The Purple will start senior left-hander Brent Bonvillain on the mound in Game 2 on Thursday, while the Gold will counter with freshman right-hander Russell Reynolds.
