If you watch the video announcement the two of them made today you will see that she wants Lucas to stay on as a creative consultant. Plus, Lucas has given Lucasfilm and the creative team working on Episode 7 story treatments for 7, 8, and 9. He may not be the writer or the director, but the man will still have SOME input.
Some input does not mean he has the final say in everything like he did in the prequels. This time, most likely, he won't have an entire team of people that just bow down to his every whim and instead can overrule him if something he says is stupid.
