This was a topic last week.
It is possible, although all logic is against this. The computer polls at this point do not favor Bama ( Note: they did not favor Bama on Nov. 4, 2011 either but sure favored them on Nov. 6, 2011). We still do not know how 5 of the comp. polls determine their rankings and the human factor has become more agenda driven in the last 10 years or so.
In all likely-hood LSU will be #4 and Bama will be #5 with an LSU win, but after a 3rd place team in a conference played for a championship I will never take logic in college football for granted.

Butthurt much?
I'll post this here.

My goodness, I wish everyone could keep this feeling to themselves. Why can't people who think this see the following:
The BCS was created to pit the 2 best teams against one another.
2011 Final BCS Standings:
1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma State
4. Stanford
5. Oregon

Here we go. Alabama had a bad night and LSU took advantage, winning a 3 point OT game at Alabama. Coming into the game, the perception was that Alabama was better. Coming out of the game, the perception was that LSU was even at best.

Everyone likes to complain that teams who don't win their conferences shouldn't play in the BCSNCG. Did everyone just forget Nebraska '01 and Oklahoma '03? Those two suffered blowout losses the final week of the season (CCG weekend).

Continuing on that topic, there is no CCG for the Big 12. Oklahoma State just went undefeated with 2 close games and a loss, compared to Alabama's 1 close game/loss. This loss to future unranked, 6-7 Iowa State was inexcusable. Oklahoma State blew a 17 point lead! Oklahoma State yielded 568 yards and 37 points to IOWA STATE!

Continuing, Stanford did not win the PAC12. They suffered back-to-back season blowouts to Oregon. Stanford showed how pathetic Oklahoma State was in the Fiesta Bowl, but that's after the fact. Stanford's kicker couldn't get it done, but that's not the only reason they lost.

Rematches in college football period seem generally disliked. Though it was the first game of the season, an Oregon/LSU game would have still been a rematch. While I believe the results might have been different the second go, Oregon never had a chance with their 2 losses. Alabama looked much better against LSU anyways.

Let's revisit some other relevant history. Florida lost to Florida State in the '96 regular season but was allowed a rematch in the '97 MNC and won in dominating fashion. LSU beat a good Georgia squad twice in 2003. Oregon could beat an underachieving USC twice this season. This goes to show that playing and even beating the same good team twice in one season is achievable. Why don't you look at other factors on your own sideline as to why you lost 1/9?
