If you have a hammer extension on it, take that off. If it continues, eat your loss and buy something else.

Years ago my old man bought a Rossi single shot .243 for y brother when he was starting out. It shot 6" groups at 100 yards on a good day. Went back to the factory 4 times and still could never do better than that.

I switched to Hornady ammunition and have no problem now. Talked to a gunsmith and he said Remington is trying to make their 35 whelen bullet identical to the 3006 bullet. In doing so the diameter near the front of the bullet is a little smaller making the bullet fall into the gun a little more which doesnt allow the firing pin to reach it properly.
