I love Abita beer. I think they make a great product and it shows by their continued success. True, they don't make extreme beers, but I'm not in the mood for extreme beers all the time. They have a great selection of seasonal and year-round brews. I'm glad to have them in Louisiana and I buy their products all the time. I really don't understand why they are looked down upon by some in the craft beer scene, but everyone has an opinion and this is mine.
As for my favorites by them, in no order:
Pecan Harvest
Christmas Ale
Turbodog
Red Ale
Abbey Ale
and many others.

it has already been discussed plenty in this thread, but it is because they don't put out anything new anymore, or challenge themselves to create new, interesting beers, at least not in bottles

It's more of a thing where there are a lot of other breweries that people look up to, and knowing Abita's resources, would like them to be one of them.

Extreme beers? Making a quality ale is not extreme, it's the norm, unless you are a BMC wannabe.

Pecan Harvest is probably one of the worst beers i've ever had. I bought a 6 pack last year. Drank a few sips of one, threw the rest down the drain and tried to give away the rest. I managed to give away 3 and had to throw away the rest.
