The only things about mechanicals are: not getting a pass through and opening up before hitting the target. I've watched them shoot rage on tv and I've only seen a couple go through the deer. When I shoot a deer I want that sucker to be bleeding from both sides.

I've killed 10-12 deer in the past 3 years with rage (2 and 3 blade) and I can't remember one not passing through. Before that I shot other mechanicals for 15 years, and killed deer like it was my job with all of them.
As far as opening up before impact, please tell me where you have seen this. The only way I think it could happen is if they were opened before release. I can see where someone could have 3-year-old dry-rotted o-rings on a mechanical that could cause it to open by being bumped prematurely. If it was because of the speed of the bow it would happen more often, since the physical forces would be similar on broadheads which are made exactly the same.
