As a former submariner who was on a Ohio class sub for 4 yrs, the show is painful to watch. I can't help but pick it apart. While I've seen some things that are somewhat realistic, about 95% is blah. It cracks me up when they are on land 1 min and then off to the boat to dive...boys, it takes a while to get a ship that size and a draft so deep to get in and out of a harbor. And the fact that you have "normal" sailors going out on patrol missions is just absurd. I could go on and on.

I agree. Of course that's the case with most movies and shows, it's just worse when you have experience in the area they are portraying. Which for me is why most medical portrayals such as House and most military portrayals such as Last Resort or The Hurt Locker are so laughable as to be painful to watch.
With that said, the pilot of Last Resort was overall still pretty amazing.

I know nothing about submarines and have never been in the military and I still can't come close to believing this show enough to like it. It was just so easy for everyone to decide that they were going to turn against the US and challenge them to a game of nuclear chicken.
