Both. I am a very much a Francophile appreciator of wines, it was them that gave the LOVE (no whites please unless as a part of a recipe) for wines it started long ago and I was able to impress the wife and friends with the pairings that I can produce between food and wines. If I was in charge the praise was a bit high, and I am not blowing my horn. If you can find it a bottle of Chateau de Beycheval from Bourdeaux will kick arse.

How can you claim to appreciate wine the French way but totally disregard whites?
That's stupid. The French love their reds, whites, sparkling, and roses.
The "red wine" snob is a purely American phenomenon, and it's idiocy.
