I don't know many people that do not give Saban credit for returning LSU from the abyss. I give Dinardo some credit for that also because the return actually began under him. But Saban took us to heights some of the long time fans around here thought they would never see again. He made LSU relevant again, he improved facilities and most importantly changed the mindset of the fan base. For those accomplishments, I will be eternally grateful.
Saban chose to leave and is now at Alabama having even greater success than he had at LSU. I agree that is one of the reasons some fans have such a hard time letting him go and comparisons between he and Miles go on. But he is in fact gone.
Miles has done an incredible job maintaining and improving the program he inherited. To attribute Miles success to Saban is akin to attributing Sabans success to Bear Bryant. The number of programs that have lost an elite coach and disappeared for a long time is huge. That did not happen to us because we replaced one elite coach with another.
The people that can't see this are the ones that bristle at Miles success.

Dear Jax;
In this context all that matters are championships, especially if your SEC bunk mate keeps winning them.
Nice post and thanks.
