Why didn't Miles challenge?

2nd Quarter, 4th and 2 for the gamecocks. Latimore was given the 1st down after a strong 2nd effort but his elbow was obviously down with the ball almost a full yard shy of the first down. maybe I'm not clear on the replay rules but what was up with that?

Because he wasted all of the time outs and you cannot challenge with none left.

1. Out of timeouts
2. It was a first down
3. We won. Who cares.

No timeouts if I remember right.

And if it's the play I think you're talking about, I thought his elbow was obviously down, but watching the replay earlier today, it wasn't. Great effort by Lattimore

Les wanted to challenge that pass that was called a TD but then spotted correctly. So he wasted a timeout there. Les wasn't paying attention.

Rewatched the game today. It looked like it was his elbow, but it was actually his hand. Just a great second effort by Lattimore.

The radio guys said they never changed the scoreboard in the stadium so Les was under the impression USC was lining up for a 2 pt conversion and not 1st down there.

You're right, we had no timeouts. But that was a horrible spot. He crawled the last yard.

ETA: waste of a thread. No timeouts left. And his elbow was not down. Good call.

The way they changed it from a TD was very weird and I don't blame Les for that one. The refs should have been more clear.

Refs signalled TD. Ball was spotted at the 3 yd line. Scoreboard showed TD score and didn't change. Everyone thought they called TD

I know Les isn't really sure about when to go for 2 but it would have been 13-10. They weren't going to go for 2 and make it 15-10. Come on.

Probably not but do you really think he was considering challenging to give USC the touchdown or move them back a couple inches?

We had to call a timeout because the ref signaled touchdown, we sent the FG block team onto the field and then they changed the call to OOB at the 2.5 YL and whistled it ready for play. Les was arguing that we shouldn't be charged a timeout because of how the call was handled.

Lattimore is really good after contact. Watching the replay now and he's pretty impressive. Never really watched him before.
