You may be right. He did dog Bush when they unveiled his portrait. I just don't believe he carries the honor of the presidency well.

__________________________________________________ If you disagree with the results of the election please do not bother responding. __________________________________________________ Look, Asswipe. That's exactly what you type wants. Suddenly, in 2008, America became weak and stupid while you were crying and bitching that you didn't get your way while the rest of us were trying to clean up the shite left all over the place by you and your guys that were intent on making as much $$$$ as you could at the expense of everybody else. If Obama loses in November we'll still be Americans and do what we can while you and your fatboy-self prance around like a Junior High Queen. But, Obama is not going to lose, and we'll have to put up with you child tantrums just like the last four years. Shut up and go to bed you little whiny-ass loser!

I don't believe for a second that Obama would pull this crap. BUT, it is naive to think that it couldn't happen sometime in our not so distant future. This country is incredibly divided and a portion of dems absolutely HATE the repubs, and vise versa. There will come a time (maybe not in our lifetime) where a dictator like figure will not want to relinquish power that easily. I personally don't think Obama has the balls to try it.

You think Old Joe turned that momentum around? Isn't it tradition for a past president supposed to leave a note in the desk of the Oval Office for the next president? Thoughts on what Obama will write?

Wow. Another great post. First, I don't throw tantrums and cry. Second, My dog in the race has long been gone so don't paint me with some broad brush that I'm just like everybody else. Third, you may disagree with what I say and how I think the election will result. No problem. I actually politely asked that you not respond. Clearly you can't follow directions. Finally, no one has responded to the actual hypothetical of martial law being imposed between the end of the election and the formal transfer of power in January 2013.

That would be because your premise is absurd.

I prefer you leave this thread as you aren't providing anything of value but instead are harassing and trying to stunt discussion.

It would take a military willing to obey unlawful orders from the CiC for this to happen. I think the more likely scenario (and I think it is still extremely unlikely) is martial law following some catastrophe, either natural or manmade, when the Constitutional line of succession is wiped out or disrupted. Some general takes control and decides he likes being in charge. If things are chaotic enough, it might be hard to get rid of him.

I don't think a general would take the power and stick with it for an unreasonable time in that scenario. I slightly think George Washington would come to mind in that generals mind. If not then someone reasonable would prevent the general from retaining power through a coup

The military is so closely aligned with Obama that they will surely go along with this great coup planned after election day. Obama voters are lazy, unemployed welfare queens who only show up to vote so they can get that cash from the stash. How are they going to participate in the great coup when they are too lazy to get out of bed?

there may be morons rioting but there is no way our military leaders will follow any orders from Obama that will interfere with the legal transfer of power. fricking liberals said the same shite with Bush 2. Obama may live in a bubble but he is not that stupid.
