Teams haven't been able to hit the deep ball against us because they don't have the time to let it play out.
This is pretty much what most on the rant fail on with this deep throws open the box idea. That and the fact corners worry about WRs, not the box.
IMO, USC will stay man or man-free until it's proven that LSU can protect the throw, and catch footballs vs the corners.
Some thoughts on Clowney.
It is very possible to keep too much protection in vs Clowney.
3/5 step routes from shotgun for vision and releasing practically everybody on combo routes of shallow cross, along with stick, snags and drags could cause a coverage change and draw 2 safety.
Probably best to line up surest hands at slot though because it's dangerous ball in the middle.

With a slant to clear out and decent blocking, a RB can chip Clowney and catch dumps in the space he vacates also.

A hi-lo smash with TE/slot and WR also works well, if you can protect the throw or provide hot outlet. It takes some nice throws and I'm not sure Mett has the developed the pocket moxie to do a triangle read vs Clowney though.
