give me one reason why passing more is a better idea against Clowney & Co. than running straight at him/them.

Because if we throw then we can run the ball more effectively.

Stop thinking about 2011. The 2011 offensive line is not here anymore. The ligaments in Faulk's knee have been surgically repaired. He's out. Lonergan's back is spasaming and he's <100%. Williford is concussed and not at 100%. Hurst is AWOL w/Personal Issues.

The philosophy that we used last year to pulverize weaker teams is simply not going to work. You cannot play it safe on offense and win this game. You must be balanced-but tactically balanced-and by that I mean you must throw SITUATIONALLY smarter than we have done.

Which means stop throwing to the Fullback on 3rd & medium. Stop running on 1st down 8 times consecutively. Stop asking your QB to make difficult 3rd down throws and play to his strengths. Stop giving defenses a chance to bracket coverage by using personnel and formation groupings to your advantage.

None of which we've shown thusfar.

Yes, execution is a part of it. But we can coach much, much better than we have been.

But stop thinking 2011. That OL left and its not coming back for awhile.

My opinion has nothing to do with 2011.

Clowney is the best pass rushing DE college football has seen in a very long time.

Why in the hell would you pass more? He'll just create a huge disruption and account for turnovers and sacks practically every drive, especially against JD.

If you run at him, and use counters, traps, cross bucks, to throw off the other linemen, THAT is the recipe for success.
