How do you expect LSU to attack South Carolina down the field with it's offensive line issues? South Carolina's defensive ends are on another level from what LSU has faced.
LSU can't spread a team out with multiple receivers because they have to leave a TE and RB/FB in the box to help out with pass protection. The WRs have trouble getting open against one on one coverage, when you have to max protect, it allows the other team to cover your routes with multiple defenders.
If you don't think putting wide receivers at the numbers in a 3 receiver formation with either a slot receiver or a TE that gets out into a route, along with two-backs in the backfield (either offset, I, or in the shotgun to either side) will open up both the run & the pass then you don't know football.
Having multiple backs in the backfield with >2 receivers requires a defense to either play at least single deep safety (if they want to dedicate 8 men in the box) or two deep safeties to protect against the deep ball (thereby allowing the run-game to get untracked against at best a 7-man front with a TE/blocking back giving you hat-on-a-hat 7on7 #'s in the run game).
I don't know much about the game, but evidently you know a tad less.

Or, since Mett isn't a threat to run, they only rush 4 and drop 7 into a Cover2 Zone defense.

Leaving 3 extra blockers in the box to block 4 or 5 defenders prevents the WRs from getting one on one matchups on the down-field routes you're calling for. It doesn't require anymore explanation.
Of course you don't. You're the guy who's yelling "THROW IT MORE!!!!!!" without even addressing our serious deficiencies at WR and OL. Let's run routes that require time to develop and play right into the strength of the SC defense. GENIUS!
