If the barrel is in good shape and the numbers all match they can be pretty accurate rifles out past 100 yards with open sites. Mine is accurate and the 7.62x54r with put a hurt on just about anything in North America. And it cost a 100.00 can't beat that.

Get you an aftermarket stock of some kind. For whatever reason, these things kick HARD and you need a butt plate that isn't made of angle iron.

Mint condition doesn't necessarily mean anything. It depends upon what factory it was made in, and when.

If the receiver is octagoned rather than rounded, then it was made in the Tulia factory...that's top shelf. A Tulia rifle made during peace time is the best.

Rounded receivers can range from pretty darn good to outright rotten (especially the WW2 products...they were slapped together).

I have 3 Mosins, each from a different factory. They do not kick that much. My 10 year old fires one fine.
