I would guess that it is, before expansion, the Cardinals were the unofficial team of the South. This is an informal poll to see how that has eroded with teams in Texas and Atlanta. Just my guess.
My parents were Cardinal fans before moving to Baltimore.

You're not going to get the numbers you are looking for on this board...lets look at the biggest fan bases
1. Braves.... Cards fault they lost last and this year
2. Cubs....
3. Astros... Yrs of being the Cardinals bitch, I know 2005
4. Rangers...last yrs WS
Then not as big you have the Reds (rival) and the Yankees (only care about themselves)
And I know there are fans of other teams but these are the ones that stick out the most, and TBH I'm surprised the Cards got as many for votes as they did. I remember it being only 6-7 fans for yrs, funny what a WS can do for your fan base.

I've been a lifelong Cards fan. Grew up in Hannibal, MO a little over an hour north of St. Louis and attended games every summer.
It doesn't take a WS to bring me out of the woodwork.
Why are you surprised by all of the Cards fans on here? Pretty much all of Arkansas pulls for the Cards. A large chunk of Tennessee and a portion of Kentucky pull for the Cards. A large portion of Mississippi and Louisiana pull for the Cards.
I think you greatly misjudge baseball allegiances in the south.

To be honest with you, I didn't really know about the MSB until very recently.
From the looks of this thread, I guess there are more Cards fans on here than previously thought.
