In HS basketball, after a particularly crappy practice, our coach made us do the tip drill for 20 minutes.

He decides that he wants us to run to wherever he was to get back in line. So I would put the ball off the backboard, sprint to wherever he was, then sprint back to the line just in time for my turn again.

He started at half court.

Then he went to the bench.

Then he went to the other bench.

Then he went to the bleachers.

Then he went to the top of the bleachers.

Then he went to the concession stand, which was in the lobby outside of the gym.

There were only ten of us out there. People were collapsing in exhaustion. One guy tipped the ball up and ran into the locker room, got his stuff, and left...sprinting the whole time.

Still the most ridiculous thing I've had to do in my life.

had to run a 100 yard sprint for every penalty yard that we amassed throughout the game.
The LSU coaches should think about this.

There was a steep hill behind our field house that we had to run up and down early in the mornings. You'd bust your arse going down it half the time.

Back in my day we didnt get water. They thought it made you tougher. Its amazing more kids didnt die.

We got one five minute break and a tiny cup of some knockoff brand of gatorade-like drink. Our coach was considered a cutting edge innovator for this.

When I was in High School we went on a three game stretch of offside penalties and false start penalties. We spent 4 hours one day of lining up with a play clock and not making any motion with even your fingers or your eyes other than breathing until it hit one. If one person messed up everyone had to run half a mile after practice, and it stacked everytime.

I'm guessing some people here remember bull in the ring. Putting 1 kid and calling out a number. If u were in the ring then you had to take the hiy as best you could. When the coach was feeling froggy he would call the numbers off quickly until eventually you took a shot in the back.
If you didn't hit the guy inside the ring as hard as you could then it was your turn in the ring.
Most pointless drill I ever ran. Designed to prove how much control the coach had and what a tough guy he was.

Those were the worst.

That and if you get a technical foul our coach suspended you for the next game and made you run 5 miles a day until the next game, the one after you sat out, while everyone else was practicing. I can only remember one kid getting a T in my 4 years there.

Ya I am guessing some people remember it...like anyone who ever played football at any level. We were doing that as 6 yr olds.

The Green Jersey-if you really pissed him off he would send you out on kickoff return in a green jersey, without any blockers, & have his kickoff team destroy you.
