This is the rule, but it's fricking bullshite and needs to be changed. Every player has been taught since Pop Warner that when the whistle blows, the play is OVER!!!

By this rule, that is obviously not true.

even in the NFL you can recover a fumble after the whistle blew, remember the KC game when we ran it back for a TD??? The rule in the NFL is the same as in college, if it is reviewed and ruled to be a fumble with clear and definite recovery by the defense then it is the Ds ball. The reason Sproles fumble in the packer game (other than GB having no challenges) is that there was a big pileup that wasnt cleared for at least a minute so no clear recovery was made.....
