what's the name of the old place not far from vermillionville area that used to have the huge mailbox in front of it

Blair House. And, no, it's not open any more.
I personally think French Press is, hands down, the best restaurant in Lafayette. Charley G's, Pamplona, Village Cafe and Cochon (in no particular order) would round out the top 5. Jolie, while I like Manny (the chef) personally, really underwhelms.
