1956 Don Larsen pitches the only perfect game in World Series history defeating the Dodgers, 2-0 in Game 5 of the Fall Classic at Yankee Stadium.
1972 After being drilled by a pitch in Game 2 of the ALCS, Bert Campaneris hurls his bat at Tigers pitcher Lerrin LaGrow. Both players are ejected from the game, but the A's shortstop will be suspended for the rest of the series.

I remember this very well. The A's ended up winning in 5 without Reggie.

Thugs
I'm reading a book that talks about this incident-
It's the way of the CODE: baseball thuggery(and make no mistake, bat throwing is baseball thuggery) is inevitably tolerated better than general thuggery. (After all, any barroom tough guy can punch a guy in the face.

It must have been nice when baseball was over before CFB/NFL got interesting.

Interestingly, in 1956, LSU's first game of the season was September 29th (against aTm) and the opening weekend of the NFL season was September 30.

1982 - the Brewers beat the Angels in the ALCS to qualify for their first, and only, World Series in team history. Give some love to Harvey's Wallbangers.

Also, general badassery from 1926:
quote:
One day after picking up his second complete-game victory of the Series, 39-year-old Grover Alexander saves Game Seven and the World Series for the St. Louis Cardinals, fanning Tony Lazzeri with the bases loaded in the 7th inning, then proceeding to no-hit New York the rest of the way. The Series conclude with a runner being thrown out trying to steal, Babe Ruth. With 2 outs in the top of the 9th, Alexander misses on a 3-2 pitch and Ruth is walked for the third time, having homered in his only official at-bat. With New York trailing by one, Ruth reasons that, with nobody having hit the ball out of the infield against the aging Cardinal ace, the Yankees' best bet is to at least get a runner into scoring position in case one of their ground balls finally finds a hole. However, he fails in his bold attempt, ending the game and the Series.

After winning Game 6, he went out and got drunk. Was reportedly so hung over that he slept thur most of Game 7, and they had to wake him up and tell him to warm up.

Campy threw out the first pitch in Oakland last night against the Tigers
