I think you're correct whenever you are saying music means a lot to people. As you said, hearing certain songs can you give an emotional experience, positive or negative. But who is the ultimate critic to you whenever it comes to music? I would assume it is you. At least it is for me. I can read a music critic, and he may be gushing over a band. But I hate it. To me it's not good music. The bands I enjoy the most are going to be seen as the best to me. Do I think they should be seen as the best to everyone else? Absolutely not. Music is more subjective than most things.
