not shown an ability to do so. Can someone please explain what "reading a defense" entails?

TIA to all the non-assholes that contribute to my football knowledge.

He certainly has an inability to read a corner blitz, especially from his blind side. It's obvious the game hasn't 'slowed down' for him yet.

They do so much film study they know what coverage teams are in pre snap. Sure some teams disguise coverages better than others but even pro QBs get fooled. When you have 2 man routes there aren't many reads to make.

But with all that said does it matter if he can read defenses? Our offensive coaches obviously can't. Here is the simplest read....Throw the damn ball when they have 8-9 men in the box!

It seeing if the Defense look like they are trying to blitz or fall back into zone.

Most importantly, a quarter back have to take in the entire field at a glanc at the snap and NOT give away who he will be throwing to, in that second where he actually look up he have to look at how the defender moves to see if the LB are coming too him or if his Recievers are being covered by more then one.

In that one moment he have to take a mental picture and throw at where he know his reciever will be to make the catch.

Receivers run pre-determine route at timed interval. At a certain second and time they will run a pattern on the field and will not deivate from said pattern . That is what is drilled into them over and over again, to run their route not matter the out come.

There quarter back must read IE see ALL of the WR and how many dbs are trying to guard them one second after the snap when he looks up.

That is reading.

Our QBs do what they've been taught. All positions are lacking and seemed confused. We need a REAL OC to fix this slop.

Ask LM whose offense they are using? I bet he can't answer.
