If Crouch is poor in the air, yet scores nearly half his goals off headers, then what does that make players like Ibrahimovic and Adebayor?

Perhaps indicative of the service? At Tottenham his last season there, he went on a streak where he scored 7 straight open play goals with his head.

Shit, I'd say. But seriously, I cannot remember a headed goal by Adebayor for Arsenal.

It seems as if some people don't know the difference between "good for his size" and "good."

That's a fair point. At the same time, saying Crouch is "poor in the air" is slightly silly given his production. Again, he's not a good athlete, and he's not a good jumper, but he knows how to use his height. Like I said, he's excellent at the deep cross to the back post. Often times he doesn't even need to jump. In that sense he's poor in the air, but also has excellent positioning. Mainly, he can use his height well because he knows he can't jump.

Here's a link I found! Not sure its source though. Guess Cahill had the best headed goal/game ratio. 6th all time in the PL in 2010 (who knows what it is now) is "good" I'd say, though maybe much more is expected of you if you're 6'7.

I agree with you. I think in general, we can define him as "good" in the air based on his scoring record. Now if we were to take into account his height advantage, we'd have to say he might be slightly subpar. However, the statement was never qualified with "for his size." If you just say he's poor in the air, you're wrong. If you say he's "poor in the air for his size," then you'd be correct.

Must I fricking say it? I like Crouch. As a person, and the fact that he's capable of pulling women out of his league. He is not what everyone had hoped he would be when he was 17, has made a good career of being intelligent, placing himself as best as possible, being an admirable professional, and has learned to hit the ball into the net with his head on counted occasions. How does that sound? Sorry, 19, not 17. He was on nobody's radar before then.

Well, who else is his size? Between he and Jan Koller, yeah, he's probably the worst in the air for his size in the world.

Even here I'm wary. Like I said, what does that say about other tall players like Adebayor or Ibrahimovic or Balotelli?

Ha, Dandy, I'm more interested in the discussion of what constitutes "poor in the air" than a discussion about Crouch.

he will get muuuuuuch better. That was alot of pasta, but that was a great investment. He could be the modern Beckenbauer. Hierro, almost guaranteed. Beckenbauer 4.0, in the making if they treat him right. I know they will. frick Bayern. frick Bayern.

Just a general statement. I disagree with calling him poor in the air because I don't see the statement qualified with for his size. We can say we can expect more for someone his size but like you've said, we don't have much to compare him to. That's why I think it's a bit silly to call him bad in the air.

Dandy, if I bust Alonso's kneecaps, would Arteta have a shot at getting a call-up? Or do I have to bust multiple players' kneecaps? I'll hang up and listen.

Of which, he is neither. His frame is actually what has hindered him from being great in the air (you know, aside from the whole timing aspect - but he has gotten better with age). Andy Carroll (who can be considered "good" in the air) connected with a headed shot nearly 3 times as often as Crouch did last season, despite being, what, 5 inches shorter? Carroll was born to head the ball, Crouch was not.

Bayern's midfield is so stacked. Basti, Javi, Gustavo, and Kroos is an embarrassment of riches at the center mid spot.
