Braves are really screwing up these Prado negotiations. It's almost as it they think he has blind loyalty to the Braves. He will be a free agent after this season, right?
Yes. Payroll is going to be tight soon. I'd say there is a 99% chance we let McCann walk after this year, but Heyward and Freeman are going to get expensive sooner rather than later. Prado's future with the team probably depends on whether or not we can reach an agreement with Arizona for J-Up. We just can't pay for Prado, both Uptons, Uggla's albatross, Heyward, Freeman, and all the pitchers who are due big raises soon. That Uggla contract is going to end up fricking us hard.

I bet the big news is that we signed Prado not traded for Upton.

I think Hudson will probably not be back after next season, and McCann will walk as well. That frees up around $20 million for raises to Heyward, Freeman, and hopefully Prado. I agree that Uggla's contract is an albatross. $12 million through 2015 makes it difficult to trade him unless he has a real bounce back season, to the tune of .260 with 30 bombs and 90 RBIs.

Yeap, Uggla is gonna have to be moved next year if we want to keep Prado. The chances McCann returns is less than 20% IMO. Just can't afford him with all the young contracts and its tough to put all that money into a catcher.

McCann's impending departure has less to so with money and more to do with Christian Bethancourt.

I was somewhat surprised they even picked McCann up for this season.. even tho it should be expected with Braves loyalty.

Not right now. But he should be with another full year in AA/AAA.

I think we're going to need a year stop gap after Mac leaves until Bethancourt is ready.

Very possible. It's a sticky situation. A lot will be determined if we can find a regular LF for this year or not. I think that if the Braves think that Bethancourt is a couple years away, they will play Gattis at C in the minors all year because he needs all the training that he can get back there. Or he could spend the rest of his career as a LF and they sign some vet to a 1 or 2 year deal at the end of the year. We'll see.

A .550 OPS at AA is not good

CB doesn't have to hit a lot, just around .250 with some doubles and a few homers. His defense will make up for his lack of offense.

Yeah, he doesn't have to hit a lot with the way he plays defense, but he does have to hit some. Good thing is, he's still young and has time to improve. He's farther away from the bigs than most Braves fans want to believe.

This is what I think the 25 man roster:lineup will look like: 1. LF Prado 2. SS Simmons 3. RF Heyward 4. 2B Uggla 5. 1B Freeman 6. CF Upton 7. C McCann 8. 3B Francisco Rotation: Medlen Hudson Minor Maholm Teheran Bullpen: Kimbrel Venters O'Flaherty Avilan Walden Martinez Gearrin Bench: Johnson Laird Janish Mejia Constanza

Solid, but I think Delgado over Teheran and Ramiro Pena over Mejia.

Teheran is going to have to really screw up during Spring Training to not get a spot in the rotation. Wren has all but said Teheran is going to be the guy.
