Holy crap I had not heard this. This is huge news. I wonder if Test Track would suffer the Wonders of Life fate if this actually happened (being abandoned if the Cars ride was built in DHS).

You know people, apparently. Tell them that ByteMe said to bring back Alien Encounter. My son would have loved it.

We played golf one time, don't remember I'd it was the palm or magnolia. I suck at golf, but it was a fun time.

It was pristine in 2004. I'm not good at all but being out there was peaceful. I never felt rushed either.

We teed off at 3:30...in July. Poor people playing in front of us were from Ohio. They quit after 15 holes due to the heat.

No way would I have gone in July.

We went in February and amazingly the grounds weren't as bad as I would have thought for that time of the year. The whole place was really one of the cleanest golf courses and most manicured I've ever been to.

It was and probably still is the nicest course I ever played. The only reason we played was because we got the summer, sweat your balls off rate. Think we paid $33 a person.

How was first day at WDW?

I'll be there in a week and need some tips and reviews from the boots on the ground.

re: Last minute advice - Heading to Disney World today (Updates pp.10 & 11 & 12)

Hey, everyone. WDW has been awesome so far.

We spent Thur. night in Tallahassee, so we didn't get to Orlando until about 12pm. Had lunch and got checked in at the hotel and got to Magic Kindon around 3pm. They told us that the best thing to do was buy a Halloween Party ticket bc if we didn't, we had to leave at 7pm. That was great advice.

With the Halloween pass, you can't enter until 4pm (unless you also buy a regular ticket), so we loitered for a few minutes. Then a downpour came and they let everyone in early.

It rained pretty hard from 4pm-6pm, so we used that time to hit a lot of the indoor rides - Pirates of the Carrabean, Winnie the Pooh. Also, Jungle Cruise and Alladin were still running.

At 7pm, the regular ticket holders had to leave and it was only Halloween Party. This was awesome. Characters were everywhere dancing. The wait times were nothing. My kids really wanted to drive the racecars, so we did that for a while since the line was short (10 mins or so). Also, there was a dance party right outside of Space Mountain. We would let the kids dance w/ Goofy, Pluto, Chipmunks, etc. for a while, then walk up and jump on Space Mountain with absolutely no wait time. I DEFINITELY recommend the Halloween Party if you are here while it is going on.

We cashed out about 9:30pm (right before the parade and the fireworks). My kids were getting tired, so we needed to get back.

Today, we are going to MK again and going to hit all of the rides we missed, like Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, etc.

Probably go to Animal Kingdom tomorrow, unless the kids really want to go back to MK.

Thank you for all of the advice and comments. We have been checking in on this thread regularly, but haven't been able to post bc we've been on the go steadily.

TL, DR... Get a Halloween Party ticket if you have the opportunity. Will check in again with a Day 2 summary.

BTW, TigerDik... great info thanks a lot!

BTW, if anyone needs any specific questions answered, please let me know. I'll do what I can to get you answers while I am here and post it back in this thread. I am here until Monday.

One more thing... if you go to the Halloween Party with kids, most kids wear a costume. And, probably 80% of those costumes are Disney costumes. Our kids were so pumped that they didn't care, but FYI. If i had it to do over, we would have dressed them up.

Where did you stay in Tallahasse?

I swore I would never drive to Disney, but the flights to Orlando are just stupid expensive right now it seems.

I don't think I an make it driving straight through.

It's an easy 10 hour drive from Baton Rouge. Leave at 5 am and you should arrive at your hotel about 4 local time.

You lose an hour on the time change.

We've left at 9 pm before so the kids would sleep on the way. Less traffic too.

We did the same thing as well & it was fairly easy but didn't have young kids to take along

Palm and Magnolia are probably closed now because the pros are playing there Nov 8-11.

If you take the monorail, ask one of the attendants to ride with the driver.

Pretty cool ride up front there, plus the drivers have plenty of stories.

It's no longer allowed. A driver was killed several years ago when two monorail trains had a collision.

That's the rumors right now. It would basically eliminate the Backlot Tour and Lights, Motors, Action. Along with that, they would be adding the red car trolley down Hollywood and Sunset Blvds and take down the Chinese theater facade and turn it into Carthay Circle. This would allow for removal of the hat. Also, the theater that houses Beauty and the Beast is supposedly going to close soon and be enclosed.

I can't see this affecting Test Track at all. The pavilion has a sponsor (GM) who just re-upped with Disney. And since the pavilion is closed right now for a complete overhaul and update, it's going to be a completely new experience that should keep the guests rolling in.

Personally, I'm not too fond of making Hollywood Studios into "California Adventure Light." I'd much rather see some other original concepts for the back of DHS.
