I thought about that, but Im not sure how close we will be to the truck.

Is a generator the only option at that point?

Any recommendation on an outdoor antenna. One that will for sure be able to get CBS at least?

You should be able to pick up WAFB with a piece of speaker wire and tin foil jammed into the back of your television (yes, I've done this in a pinch!) You can literally see the transmitter tower from anywhere on campus. If you're talking about ESPN games, thats a different story.

Best would be a portable inverter generator. Honda used to be the mac daddy for this, but most of the Japanese small engine companies are making them now (Yamaha, etc). Price for those are anywhere from $500-$1000. For less than $200 you can get that little one from Harbor Freight, but I'd get some sort of UPS for it.

If you go the straight battery/inverter route, I'd make sure you get a "pure sine" inverter. Much cleaner signal, easier on the electronics.

One thing to remember, televisions depending on the backlight and type can draw a lot of power, so dont underbudget.
