there have been countless penalties given on crosses where the defender jumps with hands above head turns his back and the ball strikes their hand.

it's natural to lift your hands when trying to jump as high as possible, so they aren't deliberatelyhandling either. but its still a penalty

The way handball is called is just overall fricked up. How many times can you honestly say without a doubt a handball was deliberate? Yet they call any kind of handball when it's outside the box, even when it's obviously ball to hand.

That was not a penalty though. Even if its not in the rulebook technically, I think refs will be more likely to give one if the guy's arms are in an unnatural position on a shot, but not when it just bounces up off the ground.
