He is.

..and the retarded announcers will still call him Big Game Bob, even though he has failed to win a big game in 10 years.

Yeah we played pretty terribly Saturday night. The loss IMO, was both on the players and Stoops. Hats off to KState, theyre a legit team this year. As for us, I think we can rebound from this and win the Big 12. It's still very early in the season.

This is news to me. All I've heard is the same anti Landry Jones bull that has become common.

Good. Every f'n year they get pumped up preseason by ESPN. And every year they fail to live up.

Oklahoma has done fairly well for themselves in the BCS era. They've won the Big 12 Conference title 7 times since Stoops has been there and have a national title to boot. Alabama, Florida, and LSU are the only three programs in the BCS era with multiple BCS titles so there's no harm there in the fact that OU only has one. They've also been to the actual national championship game more times than any other school (2000, 2003, 2004, 2008).

He's still one of the best coaches in college football. They would be crazy to run him off. Who out there is a more proven winner than he is?

losing to Kstate shouldn't be the end of the world, that's a good team this year. The problem with OU is that Landry Jones has fallen apart going back to last year when they lost Broyles for the year. They just aren't a good team right now

It's not like OU is going to get a better coach but under the BCS system, the highlighted bowl games will always stick out over regular season records and Big 12 Championships...

Stoops Honeymoon (Big Game Bob)

quote:

2001 BCS Title
(3) Florida State 2
(1) Oklahoma 13

2003 Rose Bowl
(8) Oklahoma 34
(7) Wash. State 14

The trouble years...

quote:

2004 BCS Title Game
(2) LSU 21
(3) Oklahoma 14

2005 BCS Title Game
(2) Oklahoma 19
(1) USC 55

2007 Fiesta Bowl
(9) Boise State 43
(7) Oklahoma 42

2008 Fiesta Bowl
(11) W. Virginia 48
(3) Oklahoma 28

2009 BCS Title Game
(1) Florida 24
(2) Oklahoma 14

2011 Fiesta Bowl
(25) Connecticut 20
(9) Oklahoma 48

Who cares, it was UConn.

It's understandable that there will be grumbling until Stoops gets a major opponent win in a BCS bowl at the very least.
