Mythbusters did the shot in the air thing. If a bullet is shot straight up it isn't lethal on the way down. After it peaks it starts to tumble.

There have been many documented deaths from falling bullets. They talk about it every new years eve.

Straight up yes. At an angle it will keep its trajectory and can still do significant damage
