We have all been told that not having Sean Payton wouldn't change the day to day operation of the team. That Sean Payton built this team with a winning attitude. That not having Sean Payton, while would have a negative affect on the team, it would still be "business as usual". That even without Sean Payton, they would all "Do Your Job".

Well, it is apparent that after 3 weeks into the season, and 3 losses against teams that haven't won a game against the rest of the NFL, that we were all duped into believing something that just couldn't be true. Its ok. A lot of the media had been too. They sold something, and I bought it....big time.

However, I think now, more than ever, the team needs its fans. We need to stick by them and lift them up. Be confident that they can right the ship. This is unprecedented. They will adapt and will adjust. We can't turn our backs and run. They won't.

Most saints fans werent duped, they were in denial. Any mention of less that 12-4 and super bowl appearance were labelled as a troll attempt.

If you actually think about, this is not surprising at all imho. We have a shite defense still, and now our offense has lost its mastermind and its swagger.

I'll cheer for them all season and won't miss a game - even if they go 0-16.

It doesn't change a few facts about where they are at though:

1) The offense has shown no ability to make adjustments after the 1st half. Starts strong and finish with 3 and outs. No game adjustments.

2) The defense looks like they are going at half speed. No hustle. They know they have a substitute teacher in the classroom, so nobody is giving it their all. Brees can only do so much, he can't rally the defense like he can the offense.

3) The refs are giving us zero breaks. Another uphill battle.

Dude, quit bitching about the fans.

Being right about us sucking and rubbing it optimists' faces doesn't make you a good poster.

They still are in denial. Most of them still think that we are going to go 7-9 or 8-8.

This was so bad, I don't even know what to say.

I do agree with what everyone has said. No reason to deny it. Not having a LB coach, an OLine coach and a Head Coach is wreaking havoc on the team. They are unprepared, unable to adjust, and just can't execute when needed.

I don't truly think that cheering more will help. I just don't think they will quit. They may suck all they way through, but we'll get a sincere effort. I just think they are majorly distracted right now. This is unprecedented. No team has ever had to do this.

A friend of mine made a great point. Not only do you lose Payton (and Vitt for half the year) and their demeanor and intensity on the sideline, but you also lose appx. what, 120 hrs. + of weekly game preperation? You just can't replace that.

This is my point.

How are we supposed to accurately predict what will happen if we have no historical basis?
Now, we know just how important good coaches are...even to talented teams...even if they're only gone one offseason.

Getting Vitt back will help this team, I THINK.
But we don't know.
Guessing is all we can do.

I guess my point with the thread was that we were led to believe it would all be ok. They sold it, we bought it. Well, we should know better now.

They took the LB coach and the OLine coach and replaced them with assistants, basically. The two weakest groups on the team are the LBs and OLine. Injuries to Hawthorne and Casillas didn't help, but man....this was bad.

I don't think anyone was duped but there was no way any of us could have imagined we would fall this far this fast. Our structure was broken and everyone now seems in disarray.

Just a follow up to this....

WR coach left to go to college. Probably a bad decision by him, but the talk of WRs not getting separation makes you wonder if this is having a largely negative impact on WR play as well.

Thats it! Thousands of drunk people screaming will give the team what it misses by not having the head coach there.

I think the defensive line is way, way worse than the LB's. What can the LB's do when the defensive tackles are getting pushed five yards off the ball?
