I've watched Lawson for 4 games now, and he by far played his best game against Rummel.
For the first time, he almost exclusively played offense in the first half, which suprised me. I didn't count his defensive plays, but they were very limited in the first half. He played more defense in the second half.
As the highlights show, he was considerably more impressive than he was against Broadmoor or Woodlawn and somewhat more impressive than he was against Catholic.
As I said last week, he may get fired up and play more aggresively against good teams, but another point was brought up in this thread that I have come to agree with. Denham Springs has some shitty coaching.
With the talent they have in Denham, they should be top 10 worthy in the 5A ranks. For Nettles to run a "scat-back" type running back like Caleb Blanchard straight up the middle all night is idiotic. He's going to get that kid hurt again. I had heard Nettles was a good coach, but from what I've seen in a few games last year and so far this year, he should be coaching the JV team.
I have been mostly unimpressed with Lawson (and Denham Springs in general) this season, and trying to figure out why. Now, I'm beginning to agree with the poster above who mentioned the shitty coaching at Denham Springs.
I'll continue to watch them and report on the future tiger, Tevin Lawson. Hopefully, he'll continue to improve as he has the past 2 weeks.
