Didn't go to his game so I can't give an update on that. Willis did get his UA A-A Game jersey yesterday and here's an update from ESPN on that.

quote:

Willis, who is the No. 4 safety in the nation, wouldn't allow the celebration to focus on him. Instead, the 6-foot-2, 199-pound defensive dynamo made sure credit for this accomplishment was heaped upon everybody who helped him get to this point: trainers, coaches, teammates, family and friends.

He put his teammates front and center and gave them credit for his accomplishments.

Great story about why Willis has played with a chip on his shoulder since youth league ball:
quote:

The motivation comes from within for Willis, though there is a point of origin. During a celebration following a youth football season, Willis' coach spoke about each player on the team. He focused on how much he was looking forward to watching each player go on to the next level and continue his athletic career. When it came time to discuss Willis, who has always been something of a class clown, the spoken sentiment was very brief, with no mention of future football exploits.

Both of the quoted segments of that article lead me to believe he will not only fit in at LSU, but he'll thrive here. The LSU program stresses team but everyone knows playing in that team concept will likely result in accolades, and possibly the NFL, coming your way. Claiborne, TM7, Michael Brockers and Ron Brooks are all of the proof anyone would ever need.

Attended Ed Paris game last night, my observations from the game. Ed is playing CB, he played press coverage the whole game, very physical corner. He shawdowed #85 the entire game. 3 passes were thrown to #85 in the first quarter, one complete for 7 yards, one incomplete, and the third was intercepted by Ed on a play very similar to Eric Reid's play at Bama.

After the game I asked Ed what is his thoughts on playing CB or S, his response was he likes CB over playing S but will play wherever needed. I asked if he was visiting for the Towson game and he said yes definitely, I asked why the Towson game, said he just wanted to come HOME and spend time on campus. Asked him if he is still interested in USCw, he said they were his favorite as a kid, I laughed and said you are still a kid, lol, asked if LSU is his favorite and why, he said LSU is/will be his favorite because it's home.

I asked about Texas and what's his thoughts, he said Texas is coming on strong. He also said he will try to make as many games as possible to Tiger Stadium this year. I asked him about the lineman (senior) homecoming court that will be attending LSU next year and said that his teammate may try to walkon the team next year. I asked about #27 (senior) slot reciever, very very explosive kid, scored 4 tds, had over 200 yds total offense, he said TxAM is interested in him.
