Is the OP really this stupid? What players would want to play for this team if we didn't sign Drew Brees? And what specific players are you wanting to sign? Specific, not position, but specific player? You want Nicks and Meachem back without Drew? What's that get you?
Drew deserved the money he got and this team would be absolute shite without him. Were you even a fan during the Brooks, Billy/Bobby Joes, Wade/Dave Wilsons, Wurffel, Collins years. Pay dat man his money and stop your bitching!

Saints have been better under Brees until this year. Saints had to let good players go to sign Brees to his big contract and could not sign good replacements. Brees got his money, now I hope he enjoys passing from his backside with and less that steller offensive line. Henderson hurt, Meacheam gone. Lost a fine offensive lineman who signed elsewhere. I guess the truth hurts.

Do you even know what a salary cap is? If we would have kept Nicks and Meachem, we couldn't have signed Brees. Where would we be then? And Grubbs is a capable replacement. Our tackles are the problem, not the guards. And what does Brees' contract have to do with Henderson being hurt?
Again, somebody tell me what replacement for Brees we would have signed as well as what players we would have signed if we didn't sign Brees. (keeping in mind we signed the best FA linebacker from a division rival) Until you do that, STFU with this nonsense!

The point is Brees was supposed to be all about team. His contract cost us to be unable to keep and sign players. The other point was is if we could have kept Meacheam the Henderson injury would have a lesser effect. Who do we not have for the deep threat. This is in addition to defense players gone.

Meachem signed for more money with another team...if we would have matched that offer, we would be over the salary cap...unless Brees took the same contract as Sage Rosenfeild (sp?) which wasn't going to happen because the front office put the franchise tag on him which was pretty damn close to what he's making now. So, with the FA tag we couldn't have signed Meachem anyway. Why aren't you possed at Meachem and Nicks for not taking less money to stay with the Saints?

Because could have accepted less early on to keep the team together. He could have withstood less money much easier than those players. Less greed by Brees better saints team

So could Evans and Meachem and Porter and Colston and Nicks and every other player. Breed has earned every penny he got...
Not to mention we couldn't have signed Nicks and Meachem anyway, unless he took some kind of contract comparable to Travarius Jackson. We're not talking the difference between a few million dollars. We're talking about them being offered large amounts of money from other teams and us not being able to resign them under the cap regardless of Brees' contract.
