I'm sure in the early 1970s Mike's handlers probably provoked Mike into growling. I remember in the mid to late 90s Mike always stopped at the student section and the truck would sit there until the mascot Mike could make him roar. It was pretty cool to watch and hear Mike roar into a microphone on the jumbotron.

Now-a-days Mike doesn't do anything but sit lay down in his travel cage. And that's IF we can get him into the stadium. FWIW, last week Mike made it into the travel cage, but not the stadium.

Was it just me or did it look like Mike was having a tough time with the heat? I saw him in the traveling cage close to the Indian mounds and he was laying down and not moving around or anything and seemed to be panting excessively. Being fairly buzzed I remember telling my friend next to me, dang dude Mike looks like he is about to pass out or something. This may be why they didn't take him in the stadium at all.
