70-30% sounds like a good game plan to me with LSU's running talent. With Mett it could go to 60/40 run which is what Bama and other SEC teams used last year.

What about 50/50?
70/30 run/pass makes you one dimensional

Couldn't agree more

I like to see LSU run and wear the opponent defense down. Seems to pay dividends late in the game.

I'd like to see the breakdown of Run vs. Pass when the score was within 14 points.
Running the ball 30 times in the 2nd half up by 28 points every game would be just fine with me.

I think that people get too caught up in the percentages. If this teams passes because it wants to in lieu of passing because it has to, it will be just fine......
I feel that was the biggest issue last year.....we only passed when we had to....

2012 offense
50% run
50% bubble screens
50% run
50% bubble screens

Fine by me. That is pretty much exactly what our offense was in 2003, and shitty Mauck threw for 2800 yards and 28 TDs. If that happens for Mett, we win it all.

Since when was there ever an offense in college football that was "50-50"?
57-43 seems more realistic.

not quite
We threw deep to Devery Henderson and I don't think we ever ran Michael Clayton bubble screens or line passes.

seems like 2 dimentions to me
100/0 would be 1 dimentional
why take something you do extremely well, and reduce it just for the sake of percentages... ?

we threw slip screens to Clayton, he was the blocker on many a bubble tho.

50/50 play calling is fricking stupid. I would almost guarantee that the closer a team gets to that, the worse they are.

As long as the opponent cannot stop our run, why risk Mett's health and turnovers passing? With the default assumption being that Mett and our receivers form a capable passing game.
Jam it down their Fking throats if it's working.
I love seeing a dominant rushing attack.
But last year, when it wasn't working too good, like against Bama (rematch) and Georgia, I would have preferred to have a viable passing attack, which unfortunately did not exist with #9 under center.
And opposing DC's knew this hence their stacking of the box and completely shutting down the LSU offense.

It's not stupid if you're just as good throwing it as you are running it or vice versa. There are many programs each year that can throw and run the ball equally effectively. Those offensive teams are always the toughest to defend.
There are many an LSU offensive team over the years that would be
50/50 in play calling each week and it was to the detriment of the offense's success because the Head Coach was fixated on being a 50/50 team instead of playing to the offense's strengths to score more points.
