It really is coming out of her sympathy for the players individually. Right now the NFLPA attorney is representing the NFLPA, Fujita, Smith and Hargrove. The Judge is now questioning whether the NFLPA attorney can also represent the best interest of the players, especially in settlement talks, due to the bad blood between the attorneys for the NFL and NFLPA from past disputes.

I think she is still with the players but just tired of the grandstanding between the NFL and NFLPA while the interests of the specific players in this case are potentially overlooked.

Good points. I think that would be better for the players then if I'm understanding correctly. If she rules in favor of the players, and holds this thing up in court, they will likely play out the year and probably retire into the sunset.
