I started playing at 5. I remember just sliding around the rugby scrum in the middle, waiting for the ball to pop out. My dad told me that was the only way I would score. Pounce on it, dribble it away from the masses, and go shoot.

I was a ball hog back then. If I had the ball, I was going the distance and shooting.

I am a youth coach and I can tell you most practices will be filled with games and not designed to teach much tactis or technique. At this age we are just introducing the sport. You definitely want to stay away from lines if at all possible, hopefuly your coach knows that. As far as things you can do, juggling is good, just kick the ball around in the yard and like others have said try to get away from using the toe! Games on the weekend will likely be "herd ball" but its still fun to watch as a parent......
