agreed. It's not like they picked a video board over a police dept. is it excessive? Ya. But its not like they canceled school lunches to do this

Well, they're going to have to issue bonds to pay for this thing, and probably pay it back through either a sales tax or millage increase on property taxes.

So it's $750K plus interest for a town with probably a 2-3 thousand tax paying adults.

Sounds like a dumb idea to me. Hopefully we don't here about some tiny town in TX declaring bankruptcy over a jumbotron.

ETA: Didn't see supahtigas post about Carthage being an oil/gas town. That changes things.
