it helps alot.. i've painted the decks of my hunting boats and trailers and thrown sand on the top as they are drying... never have mixed it in before, why not do both?
I guess you could do both but I wanted it mixed in. On the amount, I just kind of kept adding sand until it was thickening up but not too thick.

well, as it's used the top layer of paint will begin to thin and wear and that will allow your sand to poke up and be exposed which will make it more efficient.... very similar to a diamond segment being opened up and exposed in a diamond blade..

I don't know what a diamond blade is.

UPDATE: This trailer still looks like it did the day I painted it. I'm amazed at how well it's held up.

How well does the sand hold? After using it awhile does the sand "bald" out in higher traffic areas on the wood? Good job btw

My buddy and I went to look at a flat bead gooseneck trailer a few years back. Good old Mike Gerald himself came out and was showing us everything and all of the options. While he was talking to us, he just whipped out his dick and started pissing in the middle of the lot. Not a word about it, and didn't even stop talking about trailers the whole time. We bought a trailer that day

Bought a new trailer two weeks ago. Had seasoned treated wood floor. Put an oil stain on it. Three coats. I think the oil will do better than epoxy paint.

Epoxy will crack due to moisture and flexing.

It hasn't so far and it's getting weekly use.
