How good are LSU's "intangibles"?

Seeing how it's finally game week, and that we are, within a few weeks, about to find out just how good LSU really is, I'd like to hear an honest discussion, or your opinions, of our "intangibles".
We've broken down "the known" about as many ways as possible. We think our lines on both sides of the ball should be stellar. Our RB corps is stacked. Our QB, though never starting a game, should be a positive. We are thin/young, but extremely talented in the D backfield. Same with linebackers.
On paper, "the known" says we should compete for a national championship. However, my thoughts are that NC's, and going undefeated in a regular season, when left up to 21 year old young men, generally is decided by the intangibles and unmeasured attributes.
What y'all think? Will this team have "it", whatever "it" is?
They had it last year. Is it impossible to have it two years in a row?
Thoughts?

good post...i think it is possible...just hope we have it...and last year IMO i really dont think we had it....I believe it grew on us as the season went on...many ppl were still saying we dont have a chance against some of the teams we whipped out...I think this year will be different in the aspect of how the season goes...i believe they have a chip on there shoulder and they want to prove something...this team is loaded with leaders and guys that will keep us focused week in and week out

I'd probably agree with you on the "growing on us" part of your part. Before the season, I never figured the 2011 team would go undefeated. I for sure didn't think they'd win in Bama. Damn I hope you're right. It DID NOT SUCK - last year - waking up every Sunday morning, and reliving another win. I could get used to that.

i think the biggest intangible this year is not having some of the same people on the team.. which, is good..

I think Miles helps this team respond to adversity. Last season with Shadys incident then Shepard. After losing the big game last year and putting #2 on those rings I really think Miles has been pounding it into their heads all off season. I think we come out with a huge chip on our shoulders and a want to compete for victory.
Not to mention the leadership that is returning to this team from last season.

we got enough "it" to win it all IMO. but some of our "it" left with Tyrann which kinda worries me. we got time for the youngins to grow into their roles, so we should be aight though.

I wonder. I am beginning to wonder with some of the things I have heard about TM if this might not be better without him. Never thought I would say such a thing but I am wondering how much of his attitude problem was a problem for other players on the team.

we are thin and inexperienced and it remains to be seen just how talented our young cb's are. inconvenient truth....freshmen cb's get burned quite often. any offensive coord. worth his salt will be targeting these kids so they are going to have to cover and tackle from the git. if they respond to the challenge with solid play the "it" you're talking about will become evident. we'll know more after satnite, but the Huskies will be the real test.

if the offense controls the ball and puts large numbers on the board.....yes.

No doubt I'd rather have experience than not, but really good (not saying ours are - yet) corners can contribute early, especially in defenses that run a bunch of press/man coverage. While the inexperience could limit the number of coverages we show (and I think it probably will), really good/natural corners can be told "Don't let #17 catch the ball", man up on him, and be effective.
No doubt though, the defensive front will have to "make them look" better, and I think they will. These NFL scout guys assess talent for a living, and when pretty much all of them say that two of ours will go in the first round, you've got to like our overall defense's chances of being elite.
I do think you're on point though on the "getting burned" part of your post. That's going to happen some. Hopefully, a MUCH better offense will offset this.
In the end, and again, on a pure talent assessment, I think this team has the kind of talent to win every game. I think this season, and a championship, will come down to toughness, keeping their heads in games for the whole game, that kind of thing.
