Need some help identifying this fish.

Is this a type of drum fish?
We caught it in Bay St. Louis if that helps.

What's the deal lately with these things?

I had two separate friends catch small ones like that and post pics on FB. One caught off a pier in GI and the other I think out of Dularge (said he caught it in about 6" of water).

I can't tell the size of that one, but not many are HUGE.

Juvenile mangrove. U can catch them a lot this time of year in shallow water bays and in the surf on structure

definitely mangrove, we got 7 inshore in lake bourgne a week or so ago, all exactly 10 inches
